As part of this expansion drive, the Executive Chairman of Jospong Group, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, led a high-level delegation to Mombasa, Kenya, where he held discussions with the Governor of Mombasa County, H.E. Abdullswamad Sherrif Nassir, on July 2, 2025.

The meeting focused on establishing a long-term collaboration between Mombasa County and Zoomlion Ghana Limited to improve waste management systems, address sanitation challenges, and create sustainable economic opportunities for local communities.
Speaking during the engagement, Dr. Agyepong emphasized the importance of African-led solutions to environmental challenges.
“Our mission is to turn Africa’s sanitation challenges into engines of opportunity and growth. Africa is ready, and Mombasa is a key partner in this transformative agenda,” he said.
He further noted that Zoomlion’s expansion into Kenya is about more than business growth.

Governor Nassir welcomed the partnership proposal and expressed confidence in Zoomlion’s ability to deliver practical and sustainable waste management solutions. He highlighted the need for initiatives that provide immediate environmental benefits while supporting long-term resilience and urban sustainability.

The proposed partnership is expected to contribute significantly to economic growth in Mombasa by creating employment opportunities, improving sanitation services, and promoting environmental sustainability.

Zoomlion Engages Kenya’s Environment Ministry on Circular Economy Solutions
During the Kenya visit, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong also met with Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Dr. Deborah Mlongo Barasa, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Nairobi.
The engagement formed part of Zoomlion’s Africa Expansion Project, which seeks to introduce innovative and scalable waste management solutions tailored to Kenya’s environmental and development priorities.
Dr. Agyepong showcased Zoomlion’s achievements in integrated waste management across Ghana, other African countries, and emerging markets in Asia. He highlighted the company’s role in creating jobs, promoting environmental sustainability, and supporting circular economy initiatives.
Dr. Barasa welcomed the presentation and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strategic partnerships that advance green growth, climate resilience, and sustainable waste management.
She emphasized the critical role of private-sector innovation in addressing Kenya’s environmental challenges and accelerating the country’s transition toward a circular economy.
Supporting Kenya’s Extended Producer Responsibility Framework
The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold a technical follow-up session involving the Ministry and Kenya’s National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).
The discussions will explore how the Jospong waste management model can support Kenya’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework and contribute to the country’s broader environmental sustainability objectives.
Key officials present included Mr. Njoroge Mbitu, Deputy Director for Waste Management and Pollution Control, and Ms. Linah Meeme, Head of Legal Affairs.
